			<content:encoded><![CDATA[<p>This months Southampton’s Past Times Lecture series at Westgate Hall titled <em>&#8216;Jane Austen and 200 years of Pride and Prejudice&#8217;</em><strong><br />Speaker: </strong>Louise West, Curator, Jane Austen&#8217;s House Museum</p>
<p>This year marks the 200<sup>th</sup> anniversary of the publication of Jane Austen’s <em>Pride and Prejudice</em>. In this bicentenary year, Louise West, Curator at Jane Austen’s House Museum, Chawton, talks about Jane Austen, her life and her writing.</p>
<p>Louise’s lecture will focus on Jane Austen&#8217;s life, most especially as it relates to Hampshire with reference to her time in Southampton. It will look at Jane’s final 8 years in Chawton, which were the most productive of her life, and from where all of her novels were published. In particular, Louise will discuss Jane’s most famous novel, <em>Pride and Prejudice, </em>and its impact both then and now.</p>

			<content:encoded><![CDATA[<p>The QE2 Mile runs through the heart of the city from the Cenotaph down to the waterfront at Town Quay linking the city’s parks, new cultural quarter, shopping high street and the Old Town. Passing through the historic heart of the town, it features monuments such as the Bargate and Titanic memorials, while the many businesses along it make it the economic heart of the city.</p>

<p>Alternatively, you can follow the Walk the Walls sign posts and panels and give yourself a guided tour of Medieval Southampton or take a guided walk with Southampton’s Tour Guides for only £3.
